Devon County
2009
Our first major show of the year and our most local. Despite rumours that we were taking 21 horses we did however take 3 mares and foals and four youngsters. Hope, the 3 year old small hunter filly was a very disappointing 6th, Hovis aka Take The Biscuit owned by Julia Anderson from Shropshire stood third in a strong open three year class. I, personally, love this horse. He is so affectionate, always so pleased to see you, just sometimes forgets to put his ears forward but he is smiling really! He will make THE most wonderful ridden horse. Our yard stalwart, the broodmare Euphoria won her class and the Broodmare Championship. Her foal by POD {Prince Of Darkness} stood second. A new member of the team is the broodmare Colombecille Penny. Purchased in the spring of'08, she is by Paris Lights and has Evented at Intermediate level. Not bought top be a show horse she has blossomed into the most beautiful Riding Horse Broodmare. She was 2nd as was her filly foal by Catherston Dazzler. Congratulations to the winning foal of Hazel Fuller by Daws Firebird. Another new member of the team is Jane'Ellis's 2 year old hack filly Evening Chorus bred by Richard and Marjorie Ramsey by Daws Firebird. She is half sister to Jane's 2 year old hack of last year Delta Tango. She stood second in very strong class, not bad for her first ever outing. The hack mare loaned from Anne Hosgood, Sunley View continued the run of 'seconditis'. Thankfully her colt foal by Catherston Dazzler won.
We returned on the Saturday for the Cuddy qualifier and were pleased to stand second{again!} reserve. The winner was Jack Cochran with the three year old hunter 'Boss' and second was Fran Jordan's Champion part bred arab filly Fire Dance by Daws Firebird.
